Bio

Doug joined the GSK vaccine toxicology group in 2020. He holds dual certifications in toxicology in the US (DABT) and Europe (ERT).  Prior to GSK, his 20-year career has focused on practical applications and successful product registrations for pharma, device, cosmetic and industrial products for companies such as Becton-Dickenson, Covance, KAO and WIL Research.  He has a proven track record of success with complex, evolving standards of global Regulatory bodies including REACh, TSCA, EPA, FDA, EMA, and EU-MDR. Doug was named a GSK Fellow in 2023.

Doug obtained his Masters degree (MS) in Biological Sciences from Bowling Green State University in 2004 with emphases in general toxicology, endocrinology and environmental pollutants.  He has authored 12 peer reviewed publications and made 40 professional poster presentations, and currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Toxicology. Doug remains active in the toxicology community outside of GSK. He is a member of both SOT and ACT, where he serves on the membership Committee.  Doug has a passionate interest in promoting education and mentorship to advance the field of toxicology. He actively serves as mentor within GSK, non-GSK colleagues through the American College of Toxicology (ACT) program, and an NIH Toxicology Mentoring program (ToxMSDT) for undergraduate students. He also serves as a lecturer at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB), and a grant reviewer for the Alternatives Research and Development Foundation (ARDF), which supports development of novel, viable strategies to in-vivo animal testing.

Outside of work, you will find Doug working in the garden, chasing after one of his 2 permanent dogs, fostering rescue Beagles, traveling with his husband, or reading a compelling book on historical biographies.
