Last Call for 2017 Award Nominations

By Elisa Turner posted 03-12-2017 01:19 PM

On behalf of the Awards, Membership, Resource, and Publications Committees.

IMAGINE, if you will, a time in a dystopian future at an Awards Luncheon of the ACT Annual Meeting. There is a vast hall of seats and unadorned tables at which members sit sullenly waiting to be served ice-less water and cold cut sandwiches on semi-stale bread (with no condiments either!). All this as, like ghosts of luncheons past, there are un-awarded prizes and recognitions distraught and floating in the corners of the room, slowly deteriorating from disuse atrophy, but still remembering fondly their glory days. Gone are those times past, when all Awards and Recognitions were announced triumphantly from a podium in which they were celebrated with acclaim and applause during a grand feast of an event as recipients gratefully accepted a mantel of acknowledgement.

Could such a future ever happen? We sincerely hope not! But… Colleagues from ACT membership are needed to identify/nominate recipients for Awards and Recognitions, and if not, then….maybe a future dystopian awards ceremony?!? It is impossible for members of Council and it's various Committees to know what each and every Colleague of ACT has accomplished. It is impossible for an Awards Committee to both identify deserving candidates and to evaluate them as well. Could the dystopian future arrive, one day, when no one is nominated, then one or more Awards/Recognitions of ACT are not bestowed on a deserving Colleague? Remember, the existence of an award does not guarantee that it will be awarded every year; awards are only provided to deserving individuals meeting specific criteria, and may not be awarded in any given year if a qualified candidate is not identified.

Thus it is clear, ACT needs you! . . . and your Award Nominations for deserving individuals . . . Please don't let a deserving individual go unrecognized! Help us! Nominate a deserving Colleague for any of the awards below (and in the process, you may also save us all from a future Awards Luncheon of bologna sandwiches and ghosts of recognitions past!).

Use the online Award System to complete your nomination or application submission for self-nomination. The criteria and deadlines are listed below:
